A New York accident turned fatal for one 26-year-old Lindenhurst driver. The man was killed in a two-vehicle collision when his 2013 Honda Civic struck a 2013 Ford Fusion head on. According to a statement from police, the Civic entered her lane at about 7 p.m., resulting in the fatal crash.

One report suggested that the driver who was operating the Civic was taken to the East Meadow Nassau University Medical Center for treatment and pronounced dead. The other driver was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for non-life threatening injuries. Details about the accident, such as whether the drivers were wearing seat belts or whether speed was a factor, have not been released.

Both the Civic and the Fusion were taken to West Hampton for safety checks as part of the continuing investigation. Police have requested that potential witnesses come forward and provide further information on the events of the accident.

When a person is injured in a car accident that is caused by another party, he or she may face a number of financial difficulties, which may include expenses related to medical treatment and lost wages. However, awards granted at the end of a civil trial may offset those costs. Even in cases where an allegedly at-fault driver died in the accident, an injured plaintiff may be able to pursue compensation from that driver’s estate. When seeking such awards, an injured person might seek the help of a personal injury attorney. That attorney may be able to develop a strategy that seeks to maximize the size of a settlement or court-ordered award after reviewing the documentation regarding the crash.
