A teenager’s life has sadly been cut short in a motor vehicle crash in New York. In addition, four individuals were injured in the wreck. The accident occurred early in the morning on a recent Saturday along New York’s Belt Parkway.
Events leading up to the accident
The tragic crash occurred at about 2 a.m. According to police, a boy, 16, was driving a minivan east on the parkway and suddenly collided another car. The impact of the collision reportedly caused him to strike a third automobile. Police said the boy’s minivan then flipped over before coming to a halt in a service road.
Authorities reported that the teenage driver was thrown from the van. Although he was rushed to a medical center, he ended up being pronounced deceased due to the injuries sustained in the crash. Four people who were riding in either the second car or the third car suffered injuries were also taken to a medical center with injuries. Police said they expected these passengers to survive.
How an attorney can help following these situations
The injured passengers may choose to file personal injury claims following the New York accident, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the wreck. Even though the teenager who allegedly caused the crash died as a result of it, his estate may still be sued. In addition, anyone with an ownership interest in the minivan he was driving may face lawsuits. If the plaintiffs are successful in their claims, they may receive monetary damage awards to cover their hospital bills and even the loss of wages if their injuries prevented them from returning to work in a timely fashion.
