A man’s life has sadly been lost in a car accident in New York. In addition, another man has been injured in the collision. The crash took place during the early morning hours on a recent Sunday.
Events leading up to the wreck
The recent car accident took place at about 2:18 a.m. along the Clearview Expressway. According to police, a man was driving a car on the highway and crossed 73rd Avenue. All of a sudden, the man reportedly hit a center guardrail in the area of Exit 4.
Police said the motor vehicle then crossed all the lanes and went toward the expressway’s right shoulder. The car then allegedly collided with a tree. The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. Meanwhile, the car’s passenger suffered body and head injuries and was therefore transported to a medical center, where his condition was deemed critical. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the wreck.
How legal support can help
The injured passenger may choose to file a personal injury claim, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the unfortunate car crash. Although the driver of the car ended up passing away in the crash, his estate may still be sued. In the same way, anyone else with an ownership interest in the car may be named in the lawsuit. If the injured passenger is successful in his claim, he might receive damages to cover his hospital expenses and even the loss of wages if his injuries prevented him from returning to work for an extended period of time.
