On Behalf of | Dec 2, 2022 | Car Accidents |

Two individuals have been injured in a motor vehicle crash in New Hartford. The accident took place on a recent Friday evening. Sometimes, these types of collisions occur due to driver negligence, in which case, the allegedly at-fault driver may be held liable for any injuries resulting from the wreck.

How the motor vehicle accident occurred

The unfortunate incident took place along Route 5 at about 5:45 p.m. According to authorities, three cars collided with one another. A portion of the highway had to be closed down for multiple hours as police investigated the collision.

Police reported that one person suffered critical injuries in the crash. Meanwhile, two other individuals were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the wreck.

Potential legal recourse options following the collision

New York police may determine through their investigation that one of the cars’ drivers caused the accident due to negligent behavior behind the wheel. For instance, the driver could have been driving while distracted or speeding. In this situation, the injured parties who were not considered to be at fault in the accident may choose to file personal injury claims against the allegedly at-fault driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. If these injured parties are successful in their claims, they might be awarded financial damages to cover their hospital bills, the loss of wages due to missing work and other expenses stemming from the multi-vehicle accident.
