1 dead, 3 injured in multi-vehicle crash

On Dec. 26, a multi-vehicle accident that occurred in front of a New York pizzeria resulted in the death of a woman and left another person with serious injuries. According to the report, the accident took place near the intersection of Larkfield Road and Fifth Avenue in East Northport and involved at least four vehicles.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., authorities stated that a 52-year-old woman was driving when she hit a Nissan that was slowing down for traffic. The force of the collision caused her vehicle to spin around into the back of a Mercedes. The Mercedes then rear-ended a Cadillac that was stopped. The Nissan then veered into a nearby pizzeria.

The woman who allegedly caused the crash did not survive. Her vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The driver of the Nissan, a 37-year-old man, suffered serious injuries. The driver of the Mercedes and two children who were in the car with her suffered minor injuries. The two individuals who were in the stopped Cadillac did not suffer any injuries.

Those who become involved in car accidents are at risk for suffering serious injuries that could include traumatic brain injuries, broken bones and internal damage. Even if the driver responsible for causing the crash does not survive, the injured parties may still potentially seek compensation by filing a lawsuit against the driver’s insurance company or against their estate seeking compensation for medical bill, lost income and other applicable amounts. An example of negligence that could result in liability could be following a vehicle too closely and colliding with it as a result.
