A man has sadly lost his life in a motor vehicle collision in Canton, New York. Meanwhile, two other people suffered injuries in the crash. The single-car crash occurred on a recent Sunday morning.
Events leading up to the crash
The unfortunate car accident took place at about 8 a.m. According to police, a 19-year-old man was driving a car north along a road. The car then reportedly left the road and hit a tree.
Authorities said the driver of the car and one of two male passengers, a 20-year-old, suffered injuries in the crash. They were both transported to a medical center for treatment, with both of their conditions being deemed stable. However, the second passenger, who was also 20, passed away in the collision. Police continued to investigate the crash’s cause.
How an attorney can help after these tragedies
The surviving loved ones of the passenger who died in the crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the car driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Likewise, the injured passenger may opt to file a personal injury claim against the driver. Liability must be established before the civil court hearing the claim before any financial damages will be adjudicated.
If the plaintiffs are successful, they may be awarded monetary damages to cover burial costs, hospital bills and other losses resulting from the New York collision. No amount of money can undo the events leading up to the crash. However, the awarded damages may help the plaintiffs to more easily move forward from the tragic collision.
