A woman’s life has sadly been lost in a tragic car crash in Clarkstown’s New City hamlet. Two other individuals also suffered injuries in the two-car collision, which occurred on Friday morning. Sometimes these types of wrecks occur as a result of driver negligence, which can be grounds for litigation.

How the crash occurred

The unfortunate incident took place at around 11:50 a.m. Police said an 84-year-old woman was driving a car south along Route 304. She then reportedly breached the road’s double line and entered oncoming traffic.

According to authorities, the woman’s car then struck a second car carrying two men, 51 and 53. The woman passed away as a result of the impact in the collision. Meanwhile, the two men survived the crash but suffered injuries in it. Firefighters had to remove them from the second motor vehicle before first responders could transport them to a local hospital. Police continued to investigate the cause of the wreck.

Legal recourse may be possible following the crash

The two injured men may opt to file personal injury claims, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the New York crash. Even though the woman who allegedly caused the accident ended up passing away in the collision, the two injured men may still file personal injury claims against the woman’s estate. Anyone with an ownership interest in the car she was driving at the time of the crash could also be sued. If the men are successful in civil court, they may be awarded damages to cover their losses resulting from the accident, such as their hospital bills.
