Five children were killed in a motor vehicle crash in New York. In addition, a sixth child suffered injuries in the crash. The accident happened early in the morning on a recent Sunday.

Events leading up to the crash

The recent New York car crash occurred at around 12:20 a.m. in Scarsdale. Police said a 16-year-old boy was driving a car on the Hutchinson River Parkway. The vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. It then struck a tree before catching fire.

The ages of the kids who died ranged from 8 to 17 years old. Four were boys, and there was one female. A 9-year-old survived the crash but was transported to a medical center with injuries not considered to be life-threatening. Police continued to investigate the cause of the crash.

Legal recourse available following the accident

New York police may determine that the car crash occurred due to the driver’s carelessness. For instance, they may discover that the teenage driver was operating the motor vehicle while texting or was speeding at the time of the accident. As more information is revealed, the surviving loved ones of the five children who passed away in the accident may opt to file wrongful death claims against the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained in the wreck. Likewise, a personal injury claim might be filed against the driver on behalf of the injured child. Successfully litigated claims may result in damages to cover funeral expenses, hospital bills and other accident-related losses.
