A woman was injured in New York after another car crashed into her Lexus SUV. The driver of the BMW that crashed into the woman’s vehicle was also hurt in the collision. The two-car accident took place on a recent Sunday afternoon.
How the crash occurred
The New York motor vehicle accident occurred at about 2 p.m. in Queens. The crash occurred near Utopia Parkway on Peck Avenue. According to authorities, a 72-year-old woman was driving her SUV along Peck Avenue. A 20-year-old man was behind the wheel of a BMW nearby.
The BMW collided with the Lexus, causing her SUV to flip over. Both parties were transported to a medical center, where they were both reportedly in stable condition. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the wreck. Apparently, no arrests immediately followed the crash.
Legal recourse
The woman appears to have grounds to file a personal injury claim against the man who allegedly crashed into her SUV, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained as a result of the collision. Once liability is established, based upon a showing of negligence, claims for damages will be adjudicated in civil court. If the woman is successful in her claim, a judge may award her financial damages to cover her losses stemming from the accident, such as her hospital bills. No amount of money can undo the events leading up to the fatal New York accident. However, financial damages may help the woman more easily move forward from the serious crash.
