Pedestrians are a common sight along New York City streets throughout the day and night. The accident happened as a man was attempting to cross the street at a Bronx intersection. As he was walking across the street, he was struck by two vehicles. The first vehicle was in the southbound lane on White Plains Road when it struck the 22-year-old victim. The victim was thrown into the northbound lane where he was run over by another vehicle.
The second vehicle to hit the victim fled the scene of the accident. He eventually returned to the scene and was arrested for driving while intoxicated and fleeing the scene of an accident. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital but sadly he died from his injuries.
